The Costanza effect is where doing the opposite of what your instincts tell you would be the better choice.

never heard that one, oh well it must be because I rarely watch tv. Can't say that I had the feeling I was making so many newbie mistakes don't think doing the opposite would have helped as I would have still found a way to lose $, lol.

Heh, maybe that's what I'm doing, but I've been buying alot of tops and selling lots of bottoms. Recently, I've sold for small profits only to see it rally much more. I know this isn't something unique to me, but the consistancy is frightening.

The book helped me, had to read it a few times cause I am a slow learner, lol. Trading is tough. Never thought I would spend as much time questioning myself and learning about myself as I have.
